"Promise me you'll call everyday." Lilly said as she gave her son one final hug.
"I promise mom but I need to go or I'll miss my train." Said Cole as he pulled away from the hug. He boarded the train and waved his parents goodbye as the it departed from the station.
"New York here I come." Cole said to himself, putting his headphones in closed his eyes, ready for the long journey to New York.
Within hours, Cole found himself standing in his new apartment, looking at the distant lights of New York City, but couldn't help but shiver as the tempurature in the room started to drop. He probably needed to talk to someone to get the air con fixed.
Cole spen the majority of the day unpacking, but couldn't shake the uneasy feeling that someone was watching him. He also heard footsteps in the hallway, breathing right next to his ear, unpacked boxes that he didn't remember unpacking.
Cole just thought it was the feeling of being in a new and unfamiliar place, or he was just tired and needed to go to bed. Either way, Cole didn't like it and decided to call it a night. As he drifted of to sleep, he could've swarn he heard footsteps right outside his room.
The next morning, Cole woke up to the smell of someone cooking bacon. Half asleep and still tired from the previous day, Cole made his way into the kitchen and didn't think much when he saw plate with food on it sitting at the table.
"Thanks mom." Cole mumbled as he dug into the food. Once he had eaten, and had woken himself up a bit, Cole had realised what was going on. He wasn't at home with his parents. He was supposed to be at his apartment alone. So who made him this breakfast.
Cole slowly turned to the kitchen, and paled when he saw a boy standing there. He had platinum blonde hair, icey blue eyes and was see through! He was a ghost!
"Good morning. Did you sleep well?" The ghost said as he turned towards Cole, a friendly smile on his face. He was not expecting Cole to faint.
When Cole came to, he saw the ghost looming over him, and scurried back to the other end of the room.
"St-Stay away from me!"
"Please don't be afraid. I'm not going to hurt you." The ghost said in an attempt to calm him down.
"Wh-who are you? What are you? Why are you in my apartment?" Cole asked.
"My name is Zane, I am a ghost and I think I died here." Zane replied.
"Was it you that kept making those noises and unpacking everything?"
"Yes. You looked tired and I thought I'd try to help. I'm sorry if I scared you. That was not my intention."
After a few moments, Cole managed to calm down and took a closer look at the ghost. Other than the transparency, Zane looked liked a normal person.
"What did you say your name was?"
"Zane? My name is Cole."
"It is very nice to meet you Cole." The ghost replied.
"So Zane... I guess you're gonna be my new roommate."
